Abstract submission

We would like to invite you to submit abstracts according to the following instructions.

Instructions for the authors before you begin with the online abstract form

  • To ensure maximum participation, each attendee is allowed to present no more than two abstracts.
  • All abstracts must be submitted in English. Translation services will not be available during the conference, so all oral and poster presentations must also be given in English.
  • For submitting an abstract you have to complete several fields in the online abstract form:
  1. The abstract body text 
  2. Abstract title 
  3. Contact details of the main author  
  4. Details of all co-authors: family name, (initial(s), company/institute, city, country
  • Preferred presentation type (choose from the list below):
    - Oral
    - Poster
    - Workshop
    - Panel session (min. 3 abstracts, max. 4 abstracts)
  • Only abstracts following the guidelines will be accepted.
  • Abstract text (including references, excluding title and authors) is limited to a maximum of 350 words.
  • Do NOT use CAPITAL letters for the title.
  • Structure your abstract using the headings as follows: 
    - Objectives
    - Methods
    - Results
    - Conclusion
    - Research support
    - References
  • Theme in which your abstract fits the most (choose from the list below):
    - Towards a further professionalization of Clinical Ethics Support (CES)
    - Rethinking the ethics of ageing and the end of life 
    - Chances and challenges of participation and diversity
    - Resilience and recovery in psychiatry
  • Please use Times New Roman 11 font 
  • Please note the deadline of April 15, 2018. Abstracts arriving after this date will not be accepted!

Evaluation Process and Criteria

The Scientific Program Committee will review abstracts on a rolling basis beginning after the deadline. The Committee will contact authors in May 2018 with formal acceptance or rejection notices in order to allow presenters sufficient time to register for the conference and make travel arrangements. All notifications will be sent to the email address provided during the abstract submission process.


All accepted presenters must register for the conference before the deadline of the early bird registration 15th of June, 2018. Presenters not registered by this date will not be included in the scientific programme and will not have their abstract(s) published in the conference proceedings.

Dissemination of abstracts

Abstracts will be published in the programme- and abstract book and disseminated to all conference attendees. Following the conference, the book of abstracts will be made publicly available on the conference website in pdf format.

Cancellation Policy

Please do not submit an abstract if you are not confident that you will be able to attend the conference and make the presentation. If your presentation has been accepted but extenuating circumstances prevent your attendance, we ask that you attempt to find another individual to make the presentation and notify us of this change as soon as possible at eacme2018@vumc.nl.  If cancellation becomes absolutely unavoidable, please contact us immediately at the aforementioned email address so we can remove your presentation from the conference programme.
